Carved boxwood swan bead inspired by the antique Japanese Ojime.  It is considered a bead even though it does not have any drilled holes.  Certain ojime beads are designed to be strung by using the natural space created by the design as the beading hole.  In this case, the space between the bill, head and neck.

This bead measure 31.2mm wide by 34mm tall by 14mm thick.  This boxwood bead has a clear varnish so that it has a light beige color.

Ojime are the sliding beads on the cord of the Inro Box.  Geishas carried an Inro Box to hold their money and personal necessities.  An Ojime bead is a Japanese bead or geisha bead that was used with an inro box and a netsuke bead.

Since there isn't a drilled hole, this could make a very nice small wood carving for someone who loves swans or who collects figurines, especially bird figurines!
