Carved boxwood bead of standing Buddha inspired by the antique Japanese Ojime. Happy, laughing face with open eyes. The back is also carved. This bead measure 24.4mm wide by 39.6mm tall. It is drilled vertically through the center. This boxwood bead has a very light stain so that it has a light beige color. Both sides of the bead are shown, but this item is for one bead.
Ojime are the sliding beads on the cord of the Inro Box. Geishas carried an Inro Box to hold their money and personal necessities. An Ojime bead is a Japanese bead or geisha bead that was used with an inro box and a netsuke bead.
