A beautiful specimen of Red Ocean Jasper with a wave of crimson.

This round pendant is slightly domed on the front and flat on the back. The third photo shows the back side.

It has a solid copper wire wrapped bail and from the top of the bail to the bottom point of the stone, it measures 2.46 inches long, including the bail and 1.09 inches wide. 16 inch copper snake chain.  The chain is 1.8mm thick.

After years of fruitless searching, Ocean Jasper was discovered near Marovato, along the northwest coast of Madagascar, where it can only be mined when the tide is low.  This part of the Madagascar's coast is remote without roads, so the rough stone has to be transported by boats.  

Ocean Jasper is a beautiful stone.  It is also called Sea Jasper and Orbicular Jasper.
