Carved boxwood bead of Quan Yin inspired by the antique Japanese Ojime. Pretty face. There is a scarf draping her head and she is wearing a string of pearls. The back of her head has been sanded smooth. This bead measure 21mm wide by 35mm tall. It is drilled vertically through the center. Both sides of the bead are shown, but this item is for one bead.
Ojime are the sliding beads on the cord of the Inro Box. Geishas carried an Inro Box to hold their money and personal necessities. An Ojime bead is a Japanese bead or geisha bead that was used with an inro box and a netsuke bead.
