Carved boxwood bead of Quan Yin inspired by the antique Japanese Ojime. Pretty face with partially closed eyes. She is wearing a two-tiered crown comprised of faces. The back of her head is flat. This bead measure 23.2mm wide by 37.8mm tall. It is drilled vertically through the center. This boxwood bead has not been stained so that it has a light beige color. Both sides of the bead are shown, but this item is for one bead.
Ojime are the sliding beads on the cord of the Inro Box. Geishas carried an Inro Box to hold their money and personal necessities. An Ojime bead is a Japanese bead or geisha bead that was used with an inro box and a netsuke bead.
