Grey Druzy Earrings
This grey druzy stone was cut in half to reveal a great druzy agate inside. The outer shell got cleaned up and the sawed surfaces polished. Next, a silver cap with an attached silver ear wire was attached to each half and voila! The last photo shows the outer surface of the geode. At the very top of the one of the earrings, there is a spot of shine, which is a bit of epoxy from attaching the cap.
Precious miniature round geode druzy earrings. Each agate druzy earring measures 1.62 inches long from the top of the ear wire by 0.48 inch wide at the widest point.
Each of the druzy earrings weighs one sixth of an ounce, so fairly light.
Druzy stone is also known as drusy or druse in geology. Druzy is the layer of fine crystal points that line the inside of a geode as we have here or the surface of where a rock was naturally fractured, such as in an earthquake, or a vug, which is a space inside a rock.
