Shakti ~ Odyssia Brass Earrings
These contemporary tribal brass earrings were handcrafted by artists inspired by traditional and ancient tribal designs.
Handcrafted in Bali, a small, but extremely popular island travel destination in Indonesia. Handicrafts are a big part of their culture, especially gold, brass and silversmithing.
The culture seems to be very Neptunian. Neptune in astrology rules art, music, compassion, ESP, dance, dreams, the ocean, visions and spirituality.
Homes and businesses both have altars for paying respect to the gods. The people, mostly women, show the gods love by creating mandalas from leaves and flowers.
The archetype of beauty is a strong cultural theme in Bali. They seek to produce beautiful craftsmanship as an expression of gratitude to the gods. This is why they are happy to dedicate themselves to detail and quality. Each items now has a story to tell, especially since they believe the talents of their ancestors are activated when they themselves make the same kinds of crafts.
Almost everything is decorated with a design. The designs capture their relationships to the water, animals, the sun, the moon, the stars and flowers. They use a lot of symmetry and repetitive patterns, such as those found in a mandala.
They love carving and even their jewelry designs depict this.
They also love filigree design where the design is created with curls, squiggles and little straight pieces of wire are soldered together to resemble lace.
There is also a design called Jawan that incorporates little tiny metal disks. The disks can be so tiny that it looks like the items have been coated with minute granules.
Their jewelry is mostly metallic as they do not have a lot of gemstones.
