Ebony Wood 3mm bead necklace with small brass clasp.
Looks great alone, worn as multiples or wrapped around wrist as a bracelet!
We originally sold these as a strand of 3mm naturally-scented sandalwood and ebony beads from Nepal. Then they started arriving in the form of a necklace with a small brass clasp. The number of beads can vary a bead or two, but the usual count is 217 beads.
Looks great alone, worn as multiples or wrapped around wrist as a bracelet! The beads are strung on cotton thread, not elastic. Also, the clasps are not always very reliable or strong. About one out of ten breaks.
Ideally, restring the beads on some silk floss or strong elastic from Michael's and use a reliable closure. If you just want to risk it, know that you can still return a necklace with a broken clasp or even one that breaks as long as you are able to return all of the beads.
Ebony and sandalwood mala meaning (these necklaces are mala-like, but not a true 108 bead mala):
Ebony is a hardwood that is naturally black and very heavy or dense. It comes from a few different species, one of which is a persimmon tree. Ebony wood is so heavy that it doesn't float. The denseness is why is polishes so beautifully. Think of the black keys on a piano.
