Dendrite Jasper meaning:
The dendrites are the dark markings. They formed inside the jasper from minerals that were present from water or fluids running through the cracks and fissures. Since the minerals were present in the water, it looks like little streams flowing down different paths. The fluid eventually evaporates leaving the minerals minerals as part of the jasper, usually iron oxide or manganese.
Since the trails of minerals look like branches, ferns or tiny trees, it is called dendritic from the Greek term for tree, dendron.
