Although the name, Kyanite, is derived from a Greek word meaning blue, it comes in a variety of colors.  Kyanite is an index mineral.  Geologists rely upon specific minerals to test for conditions that caused metamorphic results.  That group of minerals is called index minerals.

Wing-shaped natural specimens of somewhat rare Black Kyanite - no matrix, just crystal.  Fan-like formation in glistening, metallic charcoal black.

Kyanite uniquely has elongated crystal blades that form perpendicular axes to each other and the opposing blades are different in their hardness (scratch resistance).

Some of the dynamics that characterize Kyanite are that they are indicators of metamorphorsis.  They indicate the minimum temperature and pressure that had to be present to cause the new mineral to form.  A second dynamic are the perpendicular blades of differing hardness.

That is why this crystal is especially helpful when experiencing a negative emotion.  The negative emotion will attune to the softer blades and the crystal will summon the stronger energies of the perpendicular blades, which are fresh insights, positive thoughts and creativity for resolution.  And in the same way that the crystal blades are offsetting each other, this crystal helps us heal when we are processing disappointment, delays or a separation.

Also known as disthene, rhaeticite and cyanite.

Hold this crystal nightly to transform painful feelings into new energy for pursuit more aligned with your desires.
