Scheelite meaning:

Scheelite gemstone was named in honor of Carl Wilhelm Scheele, a chemist/pharmacist who was the first to describe it.  It was discovered in Sweden.  That was in 1781.  Scheel was 39 years old at the time and died at 43 years old.  He married two days before he died of Mercury poisoning.

He was also an experimental scientist and the one who discovered chlorine, along with organic acids tartaric, oxalic, uric, lactic, and citric, as well as hydrocyanic, hydrofluoric and arsenic acids.

His work with oxygen lead to his recognition of oxygen as an element.  Even though his fellow pharmacists spoke Swedish, he preferred to speak German.

The Swedish scientists initially called Scheelite tungsten because of its density.  Tungsten means heavy stone.  Tungsten later became the name for the metallic component of the stone and the remaining crystal was called scheelerz or scheelite.

Scheelite metaphysical properties:

Scheelite's energy is very similar to that of Blue Lace Agate.  Great stone for being in harmony with air and wind, which includes flying.

Scheelite healing properties:

As an air element stone, it rules the lungs and air passageways.
