This is a gorgeous skull necklace mala. It is really long. Great for taller people. Dark tea-stained, hand-carved, water-buffalo bone skull Buddhist prayer beads, strung in a 108 bead mala. Skulls are inspired by the Buddhist tradition, reminding us of the impermanence of Life.
As this skull necklace mala is hand-carved and assembled, bead sizes may vary, but typically 59 to 60 inches long with each bead approximately measures 8.8 to 11mm wide by 14.4 to 15mm long. 1mm vertically-drilled hole. Sometimes the cotton-floss tassel is brown instead of orange. The mala is not knotted.
Bone mala beads meaning:
The skull is used in meditation to reflect upon death and how our true nature is spirit and therefore not dependent upon our physical bodies for existence. It helps the meditator accept physical death knowing that the spirit is what is real and by embracing death we can live a more fearless life and make the most of the present.
