Carved boxwood bead of an elephant's head inspired by the antique Japanese Ojime.  The elephant's face has a triangular motif over its 3rd eye.  The back side is flat.  This bead measure 35.2mm wide by 32.2mm tall by 16.9mm thick.  There are two 1.2mm holes at the top.  This boxwood bead has a clear varnish so that it has a light beige color.  Both sides of the bead are shown, but this item is for one bead.

The holes on the top of the elephant's head are drilled on an arc.  You will need a curved needle to thread this bead, such as used in upholstery.

Ojime are the sliding beads on the cord of the Inro Box.  Geishas carried an Inro Box to hold their money and personal necessities.  An Ojime bead is a Japanese bead or geisha bead that was used with an inro box and a netsuke bead.
