Little Geode Agate Druzy Earrings
This black agate crystal was cut in half to reveal a sparkling druzy lining inside. The outer shell got cleaned up and the sawed surfaces were polished. Next, a flat sterling silver band with an attached surgical steel ear wire was attached to each half and voila! Precious miniature geode druzy earrings.
Each agate druzy earring measures 1.48 inches long from the top of the ear wire by 0.63 inch wide at the widest point. The stone itself is 17mm wide by 16mm.
Their weight doesn't even show up on the scale, so very lightweight .
Druzy stone is also known as drusy or druse in geology. Druzy is the layer of fine crystal points that line the inside of a geode as we have here or the surface of where a rock was naturally fractured, such as in an earthquake, or a vug, which is a space inside a rock.
